they didn't have a vote on it didn't you know?
He was foisted upon them.
The non english speaker thing was just the final insulting quip
Nice to see that eventually he embarrassed the lot of them.
Hot poker anyone?
Who said anything about a vote? You get what you deserve.

That Dispatches piece was an eye opener
Sorry, I never watch television, mean to watch it more often - does his beekeeping pretence get a mention? Tempted to watch, but don't want it to be like a trip onto the Daily Mail website where I occasionally stumble across a story on and just get impotently angry and frustrated by their lies and xenophobia. Cheers, Ror

What a smart decision, to build the abbey where it would be handy for catching the train.

A colleague of mine worked the channels at Heathrow airport in the early 1990's one day he overheard an american couple discussing Windsor castle "fancy building a castle right at the end of an airport runway"

It’s just a list of a lot of the pies they have their fingers in

And how his nature conservation takes a back seat when money can be made from natural resources.

Temple of Concordia is a lovely idea, appropriate and fun. Looking at the F&M I wish I'd never asked.

I think there was more chance of him being Jasper Tudors son.
Buried at Keynesham abbey, the remains of the buildings are just behind the train station.
He was incredibly loyal to Henry when others had deserted him on masse.
I was in a wars of the roses reenactment society.
I was Jasper Tudor, still have the armour and banner !
Not a member but some years ago I was invited to ride my Icelandic Horse in a team of Icelandics at a Viking reenactment during Melton Mowbray show. We were supposed to be the Cavalry.

All I have in my ancestry is one of Dick Turpin's brothers.
Apparently I’m related to a Nigerian princess …. She’s sent me emails to send her some money
Of coursee, Fat Hal managed to destroy most of the English establishments too. Best waste of a skin we've had as a monarch..

I don't know, our current mob - carlo and his brat aren't much better but at least the Loch Ness Noncer (AKA the duke of dirtybastardshire) seems to only leech off his own family.

We'll take it that you are not a fan of the monarchy then ?

Hang about, he's not English either, is he? I think we should go back to Northumbria being in charge, failing that, let us join Scotland again, please!
Are any of us?
According to Wiki
The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Paleolithic. It takes its name from the Angles, a Germanic tribe who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries.

We have since been invaded a few times by Romans, Vikings, Anglo Saxons and Normans to name a few

In similar vein the American dream seems to be to remove all the immigrants from their country. It concerns me that as the whole damn lot being from immigrant stock they will deported around the world and Mr Trump ends up in Scotland whence his mother came. His fondness for his ancestral home led to a visit some years ago where he spent 97 seconds inside the house = some fondness for ancestry! America will be very empty when the total deportation occurs.

have a read of some of Alice Roberts's books gives a better overview of the ancient britons and the later 'celtic' legend. and of course the germanic ancestors of the English, started off as mercenaries invited over byb the Romans to bolster their defences, but when the romans scarpered (without paying them) they decided to squat and stay.
One of her books also gives an interesting insight to the development of the romish church - to the detriment of the celtic christian establishment. In a nutshell, the Roman administrators (civil servants) could see that the empire was on it's last legs, and also saw how christianity was gaining a strong foothold, they saw this as a chance of a new empire for them to administer so just took it over - it's why the first bishops' individual territories are called Dioceses, it was based on the roman empire's administrative areas and still follow the same basic outlines.

whilst the only growing industry seems to be foodbanks and people (including children) are sleeping in the streets, while they still dip deeply into our pockets? whilst Carlo charges the RNLI a fee to cross the beach whilst responding to a shout for help? whilst his son profits from rack rents on the 600 plus mould infested slum properties he 'owns?
Whilst the spend millions on an air conditioned gold coach yet still charge our struggling NHS millions for a place to park our ambulances?
No, not really a fan to be honest.
But I'm sure we'll have a line of compulsive forelock tuggers who delight in grovelling at their feet jump to their defence with thu usual fictions about tourism and the likes
