Rust in Extractor

Whilst moving some kit around I’ve noticed the extractor has developed a little bit of rust. Its all in the same place and runs along the join. I was sure that it was dry when I put it into storage, but I guess not.

Anyone know the safe way to remove this before it gets worse? I’m conscious of putting chemicals in it due to its main purpose.

Oxalic acid will remove it and neutralise it - or a nylon scouring pad. Lower grades of stainless steel - particularly in areas where it has been worked or welded can show signs of surface rust ... it's unsightly but not that serous, Atmospheric moisture is enough to cause it. My extractor is an old one and the stainless is really good quality but after cleaning and drying at the end of the extraction I wrap it in pallet wrap - keeps it nice and clean and any bees (that can sniff honey residue at 10 miles) or other bugs out.
