If you use it for treating hive woodwork (or anything else, I guess), I just noticed that it's on buy one get one half price at Screwfix over the Easter weekend.

I find the cheap stuff is cheap for a reason! Ducks back with about 3 coats has lasted well in the past, on hives I like Saddolin classic. Some of the cheap brands put a layer like paint and they are terrible in later years. Solvent types that soak in at least only require a brush for future coats.

Solvent stuff is sadly becoming scarce.
I liked Cuprinol clear wood preserver as a a base coat but even that is now water soliable- but still forty quid a gallon..
