2 swarms moved into the 2 bait hives in my garden 2 weeks ago. Today's inspection reveals one hive with HM starting to lay eggs. The other has no evidence of eggs or larvae(plenty of stores and pollen) but central comb has one sealed queen cell and 4 with developing larvae. Could a queen have arrived with swarm, laid a few eggs and then scarpered again? Or have I missed something obvious? Thanks in advance for helping to reinforce my clarity!
