Not sure Russell , I'd have to check - and then wait for my Birthday in the hope of a gift membership - as in all honesty I can afford membership or exams - but not both. It also grieves me to pay for a membership I am unable to use.

Aren't you being a bit mean? Surely you make profit from selling honey. I find BBKA News Letter most useful. The craft in general needs support and BBKA fights many battles on our behalf.

AMARI - Mean? No - realistic YES. I have yet to make any profit from the bees - and think it may be years before I can - But that is not why I keep them. I do that because they fascinate me. If I could work and money was not as issue of course I would join to support the ideals BUT I CAN'T and money is extremely tight. SO no, join the BBKA or oxalic the bees and give them fondant at Christmas. All I can assume is that you do not struggle for money...

Do I need to do the exams...does it help the bees? Yes, longterm because I learn...but mainly it is for me. I have worked since I was 16, and now I CANNOT. I feel my brain freezing and forgetting how to work - so need to keep it busy. I have an English degree...I have a teaching degree...so what can I study relatively cheaply? Beekeeping. It helps me mainly, it keeps my brain going through the morphine curtain. Long term it will hopefully help the girls...but I need to feel alive when mainly I feel as if I waste every day of my existence.

I think it is time to end this thread as it seems people feel free to make hurtful comments about someone they have never met and circumstances about which they know nothing. Thanks for the CONSTRUCTIVE comments all...
