I am just curious about what other hobbies people may have. I'm guessing there will be a fair few gardeners. I personally can't stand gardening except for maybe planting apple trees, I tend to forget to water anything that needs any further interaction:icon_204-2:.

My other hobbies include guitar playing, also learning the mandolin and ukelele.
Reading about and going for walks in nature.
Gym
Reading in general (sci-fi, fantasy etc)
The odd game on the xbox/pc, although I'm finding it increasingly boring.
Cooking foreign foods.

I recently did a kitesurfing course and have the equipment but could do with someone to go kitesurfing with as it is dangerous alone. What are your hobbies?

Hi Ely, I don't kitesurf but I do like to though myself down snow covered mountains on a plank of wood. I hope you manage to find a "team mate" cuz the scary sports are always better with someone there to prove how mental the day out actually was. Lol

Restoring vintage motorcycles, I get my enjoyment out of turning a rusty wreck back into a useable machine, then selling/swapping it to finance the next rusty wreck :hairpull:

CD

My main hobby is correcting other people's spelling and grammar. This makes me a popular guy at home and at work. Someone has to do it :)

Crosswords - hence the name (Sixfooter is a common component of a crossword clue and usually gives bee or ant as part of the answer)

I am heavily into DIY and gardening which has developed into specialised planting for bees and making hives, nucs, bait boxes, warming cabinets, stands etc..

I used to read a lot of history and fiction( Life of Pi was my favourite book) but now I mostly read books about bees and beekeeping. (Ted Hooper is my favourite these days)

I used to have a mean machine high performance car, but now settle for a Mondeo estate so I can get lots of home made bee boxes in it.

Veg gardening (allotment), archaeology, cooking (cakes / jams / chutney mainly).

Rich.

Falconry (birds and bees!) and Marine Reefkeeping

also woodwork (building hives!), extreme diy and farm type projects

... and I squeeze the family in there too!

I suppose my other hobby is actually my job felling trees.

Hobbies, yes but some like gardening are just 'things I do' - i have a garden so I musk keep it, but it isn't the highest priority so it just gets kept as well as possible - vegetables, soft fruits (10 large blackcurrant bushes and six gooseberries) fruit trees, greenhouse and a large lawn plus my mother's garden and greenhouse.
Game/rough shooting, foxhunting (I'm treasurer of our local foot pack) fishing (secretary of the club my grandfather founded) and chairman of Carmarthenshire Fishermen's federation so do quite a bit of environmental work - campaining to clean up our rivers and the like, a bit of fishing coaching and a bit of rifle shooting - both on the range and occasionally vermin control.
Researching mine and others family trees (managed, by stumbling on work that other 'relatives' have done to establish that I'm descended from some of the greatest kings and princes of Wales and Ireland) and also reseaqrching local history.
Local councillor for the last 14 years or so.
Heading a group to preserve the oldest chapel and burial ground in our area.
Reading - fairly catholic tastes, from trash type historical mysteries and da Vinci code type books to English classics, and a bit of History.
A bit of woodwork (but that again isn't a hobby, just something I've been brought up to do)
I occasionally go to work and try and protect society as a senior maritime enforcement officer with the UK Border Force (formerly Customs) - that must be a hobby as the remuneration isn't that good

There's something about the word "hobby" that grates a bit with me. Hobbies are what the Victorians did to amuse themselves.
So my interests include a bit of fishing (as long as it's something I can eat), brewing, growing too many runner beans, and very occasionally travelling off the beaten track.
I did a bucket list a few weeks ago. I'd like to produce my own variety of runner bean and name it after myself just to confuse people.

You cut could finely slice them, fry them and call them chrisps.
There are some interesting hobbies.

couldn't have put it better myself Chris
growing too many runner beans,

Ah! must be a bit of Welsh in you somewhere Chris. in a lot of areas round by me runner beans are a religion not a 'hobby' as soon as the six nations ends runner beans is the main topic of conversation. One of my favourite meals - a basin full of runner beans well boiled with a pinch of bicarb (served with the boiling liquid - occasionally the liquid served in a mug separately) white pepper and butter over the beans and eaten with brown bread and butter :drool5: some people will have a piece of cheese to accompany it

Chuckle.

Bees take up a good deal of my time. I have many other reasonably gainful pastimes including allotment wading, motey cycling and learning to twang banjo and mando.
I have the answer - don't sleep :)

Ps what's the difference between a banjo and a motor bike? You can tune a motor bike...

Pps Denise - just dismantled a 125 gallon mini-reef.
