All was well this morning. Hive never seemed to budge. Bees were out flying today.

They will all be telling the tales of how in the middle of Exophelia their native Amm's were all out flying and bringing in pollen and nectar..

Well I can pretty much assure you that mine srayed firmly inside throughout!!..only amber warning here but we look south at the see so got a right blustering...nucs are in a relatively sheltered spot...

Felt quite sorry for them all trying to get back as the wind began...blown about everywhere!!..they were out in force the next afternoon but have definitely been more agitated all week...

Yes, and thanks for asking.

I had them all ratcheted down since Sunday, and they're in a good sheltered spot anyway.

They let me down badly though. Rather than flying out for nectar and pollen in 200kmph gusts, they stayed indoors, supping Guinness and generally conforming to that cheers2 national stereotype of ours, as so shrewdly observed eg here...

Yes, mine were grateful for the extra stores. They stayed the night for the craic and headed back the next morning.

Looks like another one headed to Ireland again. Storm "brian" forcast for Saturday. Looks like we are in rough ride this year. Here in birmingham its pouring down with rain but bees still out bringing necter and pollen even though its below 12c

Some of mine are so heavy that you'd think I'd screwed the floors to the stand! There's no way I could heft them.
The weather has been warmer for longer here and the good colonies have taken advantage of the opportunity to forage on the ivy. Interestingly, some aren't foraging and are living off their winter stores.

I am having to put concrete blocks under the hive stand legs as the weight of stores is pushing the legs into the ground!
Seems like a new flush of HB about to bloom.... 24 degrees high yesterday in the greatgreygreenslimeymightytamarrivervalleyallsetaboutwithgrantfundedquangoesandpotatoesandtomatoesallrottingintheground.....

All this storm naming rubbish makes me cringe, at the end of the day we are going to get a wet windy day, i was working outside in bad weather yesterday i got soaked to the skin but that is part of life in the construction trade, the only time we down tools is when we are over 30ft as major damage can be caused if we drop something..

It rains...sometimes incessantly
