Out of 19 am waiting on one cell to hatch and two have test frames in as suspected virgins gone missing.

16 laying queens and need to reduce strength in some 8 of them as they are getting very tight for space.

Will achieve it by starting another 5 nucs (poly boxes arrived this morning from Denmark) and will set them up as Langstroths.

All in all rather pleased.

What do you think might be a good method to treat five frame nucs with laying queens for varroa at this time of year? My bees are infested again, despite mesh floors and drone brood removal.

A very experienced beekeeper near here uses eucalyptus essential oil on balsa strips hung between frames in the brood nest....and he has lots of healthy hives packed quite tight and is selling nucs at the minute.
