In the past 48 hours it's been confirmed that North Korean troops have arrived (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3vkqwe9wwdo) in Russian-occupied Ukraine - Europe's biggest producer of honey (https://www.statista.com/statistics/812172/global-top-producers-of-honey/).
It's looking like the west's strategy of non-escalation, has led to other dictatorships slowly joining Russia (North Korean soldiers and weapons, Iranian missiles and Chinese military tech).
The passive posture, while conceding the initiative to Russian aggression hasn't worked. In fact, it's produced the opposite of the desired effect.
A perceived weakness in western democracies may well end up leading to a wider conflict, while also causing countries, currently without nukes, to consider acquiring them, as without it they cannot defend themselves against nuclear-armed dictatorships - a question previously irrelevant when the west provided effective defence to these countries.
Of course, I hope I'm wrong, and that Russia returns to its side of the border. But, unless the west decides to radically change it strategy towards the Russian invasion of Ukraine, this looks like turning into a wider conflict.
