Nicot History

A small group of our local beekeeping club have started a low-key queen rearing group and, to date, have had encouraging success. Between us, we have previously tried a range of approaches but are currently using the Nicot system which seem, so far, to meet our needs. I was wondering where the name came from and assumed that it was the name of a French originator but don't seem to be able to find any reference to its origin. Is anyone able to say where the name came from and when?

Shame they don't offer plastic national components (especially floors), I guess it's the consequences of a niche specification and not worth it.

Thanks for that, I wasn't aware of the French plastics firm so that's one step closer to discovering the origin of Nicot. I imagine that the firm should be able to tell me the origin of the Nicot name. I wonder if they will be able to reply to a query in english or will I have to resurrect my schoolboy french / google translate.

I predict that in the late 1960s or early 1970s Monsieur Nico T was a semi commercial beekeeper who also worked in a plastics moulding firm and saw the need/possibilities of plastic hive components.

Thé Company was created in 2017 by Christian Nicot As they specialise in plastic they came up with the name Nicotplast.
I have them absolutely fabulous.

Their own website says the company started in 1973.
