Not so Mammoth as advertised. I place an order this morning by phone. Tried on line but only catalogue prices came up, hence the phone order, told problems with the Web Site.

No wooden items in sale ( hives etc) 10 % off some items and 20% off foundation.

We just ordered some jars ,had to do this via phone because, the website was not displaying sale prices.
Should arrive next week.

Got to admit, I was expecting something bigger having seen it advertised for weeks.

You can order online, just the discount won't show at checkout.

Mann Lake will process the payment with the discount applied.

was quite underwhelmed.

I can't even see a 2015 catalogue. They still have the 2014 one on the website.

Mann Lake have a big reputation in the US but I'm unimpressed.

Take a single Langstroth brood box as an example. The US site quotes this as $16.50 which is £10.69 at the current rate of exchange. The UK site quotes the price as £18.36. If they hope to impress us as much as they have in the US, they'll have to do a lot better than that.

Free shipping does not apply to jars either - and you can't even get an idea of how much they'll sting you for shipping until you phone them up - not very convenient at all IMHO. Think I'll just stick to my usual suppliers.

I was going to place an order, but no shipping costs or discount applied at checkout !!
No thanks :nono:

I think its about time I bolted a web shop onto the forum with some proper discounts and savings for members...

I agree with admin

i tried calling but nobody answered ( several times)

looks like an order to Big T and collect at Harper Adams, what a shame.........

I emailed Mann Lake a couple of weeks ago to ask what would be in the sale as I was interested in the National hives. I was told the hives would be in the sale and orders could be place on the phone up to a week before the sale date.

The hives were not in the sale and I had to wait for sale day to place the order.

I tried to place my order on the net but no discount was applied at check out so I withdrew my internet purchase.

I then tried on the phone expecting a long wait but was answered immediately.

The service on the phone was good, but I would have thought more information of discounts would have been available before sale day. I did not place order for some items as the price was not discounted.

I will pass further comment when my goods arrive.

Even better, JBM, you would have the perfect excuse for all those deliveries!

My principle on the internet:
Never buy from any site which leaves discounts and postage until the last and where it is unclear how much postage will be.

I thought the internet was there to make things easier for customers: I therefore dislike sites that are difficult to use or understand or estimate prices..

I especially dislike those where you get no postage costs until you have registered as a new customer and then find they are exorbitant. Waste of time..

well the wheel turns full circle. when I had a problem with manners lake, quite a few heare attacked me, I have got my hands on their hi#bred supers half the bee spase at the top and half at bottom can be sorted but I think the bees would rather draw comb on a slate. why not do what the good lady told me and stay with you re owen supplier might be the right move.

Terry, do you know, or just think that there will be a problem with the bees drawing out comb on frames of foundation within these supers?
