Making candle moulds

Q. If I wanted to incorporate glitter how would I go about it or die to change the colour?

You can buy candle dyes....with instructions
Forget glitter...it will crackle and smoke.
I don't do many coloured candles ...just the trees for christmas
I get coloured wax sheets from Thorne in the winter sale and mix into my wax. You don't need much. These are 140g trees and one sheet of wax does four

Hope you're going to buy some cheap wax to go with that (edit : lovely smelling stuff ) too!

Bear in mind that essential oils are expensive and you will need 10% of the total in oil or the fragrance will not come through
Pure beeswax is so lovely on it's own

I’d have left the pillar candles as natural. Otherwise it’s quite effective.

Yes, they look good (personally I'm not too keen on the two tone one at front left, but I do like the others a lot) Burn well?

Yes, really well and slowly they will last.

There from thornes I think, they were found in a plastic container in the workshop along with numerous other bits and pieces.

Including dye? I’m just curious. You asked whether you can dye candles then I presume you found some in with the moulds?

Powdered dyes we have some for crafting at home. I wanted to try and make the candles as life like as possible expecially the cones. These will be gifts for family and friends.
Plan is to make more candles I like the life like look and have been looking at buying more moulds.
I also read that you can use alsorts of things to dye the wax yesterday, even use herbs dried or not for scenting your wax, alsorts of spices... It's a minefield and we found it very enjoyable.
Watched a few videos yesterday as I wanted to show the little guys how the bees produce wax.

I will filter the wax abit more definitely an art to making candles

I have the same mould as yours (Thornes)
They specify the wick size according to the finished candle, so 1½" for these.

New supers this summer gave me some lovely white cappings wax.

I meant wick size sticking out to light sorry I didn't make it very clear.
I've used one and a half inch wicks in the candles they look really vibrant,
How did you find taking the candles out of the moulds?
I expect some are a bit fiddle

I've not had any trouble unmoulding these. Some cheaper moulds from Amazon can be a pain but these just slide open nicely.

I cut the wicks to 1cm ish when done.
(If you dip the whole wick before moulding, rather than just the end, it's more uniform so cuts neater.)
