Well, as you say, down to interpretation.
But if the neck of the jar breaks from the lid being retightened several hundred times, and the customer takes you to court, the seller had better hope that the courts have the same interpretation as himself.
Reminds of the salesman from a big double glazing company who, when he discovered he didn't win the contract to build my conservatory, shouted down the phone at me not to come to him if my conservatory got blown down in the middle of the night.

Sometimes you just take a chance.

Not scare mongering..... more Precautionary Principle!

Who are TS and EH? We use Compak.......
For someone with such zeal in following gold plated rules I'd expect you to have heard of Trading Standards and Environmental Health

Not on the original topic but on the tangent one.
Another Aussie development that will take off I reckon.
... compostable pouches ...saw them yesterday on a show on the telly.
https://amberdrophoney.com.au/zero-waste-honey/

Asked our packaging gurus to look into these compostable packages.
Said they did not fit with their environmental policy as contained micro plastics...

Any one of you clever people out there better informed?

Re Steve's post, No. 20 : Given that Steve and I are in nearby - or possibly adjoining! - Unitary Authorities and have been given different interpretations of what we are obliged to do regarding honey sales and labelling, you may be best off contacting your own Trading Standards department for their interpretations...

I doubt there is an issue with them with respect to microplastics. This is a different product but mentions the issue. Are you sure they are not confusing compostable plastic with biodegradable plastic?

BTW.... composting plastics need to be composted, not just thrown in the garbage to go in landfill.

Thanks for that Tazzie!

Will have to do some research to see if similar products are available here in the UK

I know that the UK cosmetics industry has now banned the use of microplastic beads in all licenced products!
