I must tell a story about gasoline dog.

An aunt has a girl dog. She let it to walk freely in town, but she put gasoline under tail that boy dogs cannot smell it.
Once a dog disappered and aunt called to police. She told characteristics to the police and and menitioned that dog has gasoline under tail.

It took 2 hours and police called to aunt. Yes, we have found your dog. Characteristics match to dog, but gasoline is finish because another dog is pushing your dog.

Yes, please do. Help this benighted person who started this thread. He needs to get some fresh ideas in his head, I feel.

So encouraging someone to approach a hive on national TV without protection, isn't that being naïve to think your bees won't sting them?

This forum is becoming more and more like Mums Net each day...
I feel sure that if the idea of wing clipping was thought up for the first time today, some forum members would want to see that person hung...

Why not post something useful instead of harping back to an incident now so far in the past that a lot of people on here now won't even remember it ...

There are quite a few people who trust their bees not to sting and operate without PPE ... as I know Heidi does most of the time. Perhaps it was a mistake, at the time and on TV to boot, but for goodness sake - give it a rest !

There you are Brian - that's putting you in your place - step out of the dark ages with yiour moveable frame hives and responsible swarm management.
I'm just digging out my sandals and Kaftan now.

Are you an old hippy then? It doesn't seem your style somehow, you come across to me as being far too middle of the road for that, perhaps it was all that seized dope that didn't all reach the warehouse.

That's an image that will stick with me all weekend !!

I don't have a problem with moveable frames ... and I think you will find that HH also has quite a few conventional hives as well. I don't think I could cope with her method of swarm handling ... re-capturing them as they emerge, but it's one way of doing it, in the right sort of location.

Her bees are untreated and very healthy .... guess she's doing something right - but I do understand that it's not everyone's jar of honey !!

Daft idea and a waste of space on this forum.

Hmm, yes, for a huntin' shootin' fishin' chap he does seem to have a bit of an obsession with kaftans and sandals ... must remember to favour him with a foto of my collection of heels .... specially reserved for tending sunhives which would be soooo hard to reach with sandals.

Oh look. Country File is on, lets see if someone get stung in the face by a Bee tonight, if so we should try and educate the hive owner into a lesser naïve and more responsible style of beekeeping and introduction to honey bees, but so far I have only seen sensible beekeepers. Which goes to show, it made sense to wear a bee suit on TV, unless you want to be remembered on TV for being irresponsible ...

Ah hem, so far, only just over a year into beekeeping I have only been stung when I have squeezed or actually sat on and squashed one of the poor harrassed things. They have been terribly upset since I raided the larder though and thought I was coming back for the babies today when I had a close look in the nursery.

Which goes to show that there are some advantages to being a one or two hive owner even if it does provoke Finmans displeasure....

So did you watch Bill Turnbull on Friday night ? Stood in front of hives of bees on a London roof without a veil and commenting on about how well mannered the bees were ... As you, clearly, never watched the original Countryfile with Julia Bradbury (and I did) - HH was only stood in the shelter where her hives were with JB, they were not doing anything, a bee got trapped in JB's hair and she panicked and tried to flap it out ... it's no wonder she got stung !

I and many others are capable of standing in front of our hives without any PPE and little fear of being stung - and I consider myself to be a sensible beekeeper.

As I said earlier, it's time to put this one to rest - it's not even funny any more.
