Well this is very helpful. Harassing members because they haven't read the same posts you have. Get a life.

Some people prefer to hear a message in person as compared to reading it on a forum. There is nothing wrong with this. Instead of bickering over a reasonably started thread, perhaps some discussion could be held on the topic.

EPS hives are also not natural for beekeeping and therefore some consideration has to be given to what the bees do in them. What do bees do different in a hive made of 2 inch thick EPS?

Bees eate it away in two months.. And if not bees, then ants in a week.

2 inch wall is too thick, because 2 cm poly works fine (Nacka hive)

Poly hive has worked fine 30 years. Why hobby beekeepers must change it before he has even seen it. Hobby keeper can do it when he gives an order to the factory.

If the OP had looked and seen that my post was obviously written light heartedly before clambering up onto his high horse..................
And as for harassment - I think it's someone else who needs to get a life, not just jump on the bandwagon.

than sit and post inane reples

Reading and learning over a period of 7 1/2 years (without even posting) should have come across these arguments several times - more than sufficient to get the message for any keen beekeeper.

As they say, ''you can lead a horse to water, but ...'' Guessing here we have a 'matchstick man' still operating who still uses fluvallinates every year and possibly has never read of an OMF (let alone a plastic hive).

Oh, and the Derek Mitchell who delivered that presentation is not remotely related to DerekM on the forum....or is he? Not possible they are one and the same - or it would have been noticed over so many years? 'Nuff said.
The point was I wasnt presenting an argument I was just synopsising the contents of what was a very informative presentation that didnt require snide comments

Sherwood only told, what Derekm had said on his tournament.

Quite a riot.... From nothing.

But it is so funny to read your insulation things out there in south.
All adult people.

............. obviously you have taken little or no heed of a regular poster with a wealth of information on insulation and choose instead to gleefully start a thread announcing you've reinvented the wheel!!

You missed the point I was relating the worth of the presentaion if you look closely on the board nearly everything discussed has been raised before and again and again. New members will not always be aware of past postings.

PS Derek is going down quite well on FB at last apart from some insufferable Scottish woman.

She doesnt appear to understand the difference between heat, temperature, conductance and heat capacity.

and therefore to her its all "gobbledgook"

I could try the plumber analogy on her but I dont think it would work either
heat:litres of water in the container , temperature:Water pressure in the container and pipes, conductance: diameter of pipe (water flow rate per unit pressure ) Heat capacity: total volume of the container

You are very naughty ... and completely wrong ...

Finland, Minnesota ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland,_Minnesota

Famed for it's production of 120% proof Vodka - Lots of people go there to try it but are usually unable to remember who they are let alone where they have been ....

Nice place. 195 members in the city.

My post wasn't aimed at any one person. Guilty conscience? ' :D '

I use that one to explain electricity to apprentices. It works well until you put a resistance in a pipe lol

I have now too small nucs. I will set up terrarium heaters into them. Somebody want to help. No experience needed. Just good theories

When somebody over winter bees, she or he does not need to know those terms.

I wonder what heat capacity has to do with wintering?
