hi all
just changed the removable floor and collected all the rubbish and have looked under the microscope and found loads of mites still alive,took a video of them to put on here but not sure how to yet,how long do the little blighters live of the hosts

Ne'then you say mites , this begs the question, varroa mites or pollen mites or some other benign mites who take up residence in a bee hive ?.

There are loads of different types of mites that feed on the debris of the hive floor.
 
sorry chaps varroa mites and im apiguarding right now just coming up to the second week
 
It's not unusual to find quite a lot of live mites when Apiguard is on. They do make a very satislying crunch when squished with forceps.:cheers2: Mike
 
If the varroa are brushed off into grass away from the bees, will they die quite quickly?
