If you ordered a nuc in December, wouldn't you expect to have it by the begining of June or by the end at the latest if a confident bee keeper was supplying it?

Not really enough information to comment, is it a commercial supplier or some one from your local group

"ordered" suggests you are using a commercial supplier charging commercial rates. In which case there is no excuse for failing to supply in an agreed timeframe. However, if you're getting a nuc from a small scale beekeeper you have to allow for the possibility of things going wrong - nothing to do with competence (well maybe a little), everything to do with bees doing their own thing at the most inconvenient time.

However, to my way of thinking, a nuc is worth a lot less at the end of June than at the end of May.

Being charged 160, so if not ready by July will cancel the order. Bought one last year and she tried to supercede in August. I eventually ended up this year with an unmated queen and lost the whole hive. So you would have thought he would have pulled his finger out for me.

I ordered one in Dec, and got it in early April...

Why did you re-order from the same supplier seeing that his/her last efforts at providing you with a nuc were such a disaster???

The bees were good apart from trying to supercede in August and I didn't think there would be any local bees to buy. How wrong was I.

Ask for you your money back
Contact all the secretaries of your local associations in your area they might be able to put you in contact with a local beek that has a nuc for sell

I have brought two nuc's from people in my local club so really consider a commercial seller as taking the .... by surposily having trouble getting his queens mated. Will cancel the order 30/6/2011 if not ready by then. I think that would be fair.

:iagree:

Trouble is the season is all but over, get over july and you will have to start getting your bees ready for winter so the supplier has wasted the best part of this year for you not good should have been more honest and let you make other arrangements

Maybe your supplier was greedy and took more orders than he (she) could satisfy. This late for an order placed last year is just not cricket.

Ask for you money back and leave it until next year. I know you want bees this year
and if you really want them inspect them first if there not fit to burst out of the box leave them
I have produced 390 nucs this year and my june nucs are like time bombs they should be strong enough to get a super or more of any late crop.
so dont be fobed off and dont let the urge of wanting bee cloud you judgment!

from 25 colonies up in the broders?

That is impressive. Whats your secret ? not worthy

:)

there's a 0 missing from the 25 or added on the 39 - either way even in the best years only so much is possible with so many bees.

9's next to nought so that gets my vote :).

How are the three swarms going 666? I'd be delighted to have saved my money if they're up to much :)

Two of the three swarms are going great guns. The 1st swarm now two supers on it. The middle swarm I caught had drone laying worker in it, and I got and old queen to put in it. Brought a nuc Friday night from a friend. Never thought I would catch so many swarms when I originally ordered back in December.
