Got something similar but that ofer look to be a bargain from a reputable supplier.

But only takes 4 frames at a time and not electric. Maybe save up for a large (10frame) electric, and have separate honey bucket with tap.
If you have more than 2 hives you will not be happy with this one, I fear.

:iagree: you will find it frustrating if you have several boxes to extract

Remember its a tangential as well so each frame has to be turned twice to extract, which is a right pain in the butt.

Thanks Veg I always get muddled with radial Vs tangential. looks like it will stay on the shelf bargain or not.

:thanks:

I was seriously considering buying this as a keeper I know has one and is happy with it,quality, holding tank etc. I made the mistake of buying an even cheaper extactor thinking i was getting a deal, I then got bad reviews from other keepers about that extractor
. Abelo recently had a sale on so I thought its best if dig deeper and go for a decent bit of kit that will last and also accomodate my expansion needs. 8frame electric £550

I'm happy with my 4 frame tangential extractor from Swienty:
http://www.swienty.com/shop/vare.asp?side=0&vareid=108280

Considering the cost and how little it's used (2-3 days per year) I don't mind it being only 4 frames or tangential. It takes about 10 minutes to uncap & extract 4 honey frames, and I don't mind doing it in bursts of 3-4 hours.

At some point if I continue to increase hive numbers I'll have to go electric/radial, but nowhere near that yet. Once I get about 30 supers to extract I reckon I'll be ready to move to the electric/ radial, but not sure as that is not something I'm lucky enough to have to deal with yet.

Husband trashed all the frames in the Giordan when I let him loose on it!!!!! I was quite happy using the small hand crank from T after that and did the supers as they came off rather than storing them up for an extraction day.

very tempted by this.

I will be getting one this year. I helped someone who had a four frame tangential and I was very impressed with the quality. It's not all stainless steel but the quality makes up for that. If you are West London ish I may be able to lend it to you if you have not sorted yourself out by then.

Thats really kind of you, its also good to hear the quality is good as its difficult to see from the picture, I was just going to have a punt. The way I see it, I'm going to be expanding exponentially in the coming years so its an investment in the future, i'd rather get something that will have longevity rather than having to upgrade to motorised or larger in say 3 years time.

I started with a four frame tangential, and when I increased colony numbers, I "progressed" to a nine frame motorised radial to cope with the massive crops I keep harvesting.;)

I kept the 4 frame. It's very handy for extracting a few frames, eg for show or, to empty frames when the flow exceeds the available kit! It's much lighter than the beast, and much easier to clean up!

Been watching for some time but no sale as yet.

You can order that make direct from Italy. Even with postage was substantially cheaper. Was going to do this but just before placing the order a second hand Giordan came my way
