It's my understanding that they don't have to monitor a web site, they monitor the world wide web, as I said, for key words that send them to what they are looking for.
When you send anything on the net it goes via certain locations on the planet before it reaches it destination and each computer has an IP address which can be traced....
Admin will know more about this, i'm just a simple beekeeper....

So what about all those websites that have every keyword you can imagine regards terrorist devices bombs ect. Even forums talking about bomb and gun making.

I guess they have to try and work out which ones may be a cause for concern and those that don't.... don't know, short answer.....

can't do anything to stop individuals sourcing information.

what can be done is stop groups of individuals communicating and organising under the radar.

There is a file called the anarchist handbook renamed to the anarchist cookbook, which is illegal to source or download. I dare you to google it then go find a site that hosts it and read it

There are versions available on US Government sites. It's used legitimately for training to counter IEDs. It has been cited in court cases, some in the UK, but never led to a conviction on it's own when it's so readily available.

I had a hive full of terrorist bees earlier this season!!! :biggrinjester:

Back to the OP - I'd have thought a good temporary measure for out apiaries if glove cleaning not required
:iagree: Could also carry a hivetool or two in a back pack without risk of ripping it. Lightweight kit for inspections by cycle, on foot or where you don't want to draw attention.

Along those lines I was thinking that an instant light smoker would be a good idea. For those times when the smoker is lit but 90% chance it won't be used. Portability improved because most of the time it doesn't have to cool. Quicker than stepping away for a few minutes to light a loaded conventional smoker with a blow lamp where you need both hands and have to stop whatever you are doing in the hive.

Maybe similar push button ignition to the small blow lamps but also opens the gas valve like a lighter. A quick blast heats the preloaded smoke fuel. Pick it up, ignite, 5 seconds blast, release button and puff smoke. A winter project perhaps.

Or is it simpler to use a patent spray or water?

Every search engine that you type that into reports your IP address to the authorities, who then start to investigate you. If you go further than that and look on a website that holds the Original anarchist handbook not the updated version called the anarchist cookbook. You will promptly find a few plain clothed police officers at your door.

You can easily find the anarchist cookbook which is still on many www servers. But if you want the file (anarchist handbook) that tells you exactly how to make Nitroglycerin and loads of other nasty stuff in your kitchen you will have to come off the www and look on FTP sites.

The anarchist handbook was deemed not to be fit for public consumption back in Maggie Thatcher's days and has stayed on the toxic list to this day. Were not as free as some people like to think we are and TBF I don't think any one needs to know that sort of information anyhow.

amazing really since there used to be a penguin explosives handbook!!!!
Is that why penguins are not allowed in hand luggage? That and the droppings smell of fish.
:)

Why would they want to be reading a beekeeping forum.

I agree though, your right, perhaps the police/government have set up loads of websites giving great detail of how to construct every kind of destructive device you can, or cannot even begin to imagine.

Simple - Honey laundering

This time of the year the huge deposits into banks and building societies from beekeepers with more than one hive are raising suspicions.

Channel patrol boats have been set up to catch beekeepers, laden with honey money, who think they can escape the authorities by going abroad, leaving from remote harbours in this country with honey money to hide in numbered accounts in places like Barry. !!! :-)
