Hive envy – according to Freud

So I couldn't find the Queen last weekend (I will check on Sunday).

And I ended up getting hive envy when visiting my friends hives.

Does anyone else feel like this?

I would ask: Why do you want to find the queen? Silly occupation unless for good reason!

The only time I look for the queen is to:-

1. Mark her
2. When I need to find her to perform some form of swarm prevention

The rest of the time I just need to confirm how much brood is in the brood box(es).

Of course beginners are taught to find the queen but you soon realise that it is not necessary unless there is a good reason.
