Went to the apiary today to do an oxalic acid treatment.
I was confronted with a fallen tree over 40ft high that
had come down thankfully between two rows of hives,
the outer branches were touching the hives and had
dislodged one super with insulation in it and a roof,
bees ok lucky escape.

sealed entrences and pruned off the brush wood.
boy the bees were pissed off when I unblock them.

anyone else had a problem with the high winds.

It might have been better to leave them unblocked. Although lots of hives these days have OMF an entrance is nevertheless an critical important thing for the bees and closing it is a surefire way of stressing them.

I would have definately blocked the entrances.
Being shut inside their hive is nothing compared with the stress the Beekeeper would have suffered attacking a tree with a chain saw that close to the Hives.

two nucs on my garage roof thought they were straped down blew over in wind saved one because i was just passing in the works van when it happened to late for the other one totaly peeved off
