I'm trying to identify some bees which have nested in my roof space, I've attached some pictures of a few bees I found located around the garden, and some in flight.

If someone could identify them for me it would be appreciated.

They look like bumbles... Did you try eating the one in the second pic?

Thanks dishmop, glad to have an expert view!

The second pic was of two in a grate in a, er, clinch!

Picture 4 looks like a tree bumble.

the bottom one in scrum in the second looks like Bombus hypnorum or tree bumble. that is going by it's white arse...

all of them are bumble bees of some sort though

Thank you for identifying these bees. We have a nest in my compost bin(which ironically is in the shape of a WBC hive). We have been trawling the Internet trying to identify them.

this looks like tree bumble too.

And they will be gone in September. But, then, carefully look at the nest in the compost, a wonderful creation.. Don't look before as tree bumbles bite back!
