Help identifying a plant please

Can anyone identify this plant? It is a shrub/small tree. White flowers which absolutely stink (well to me anyway, if I was being kind I would describe it as a very pungent floral smell - worse than elderflower!).

Photo taken as I found a very pretty beatle which I had not seen before. Loved the fact that is a Bee Beatle!

No idea but nice picture of a beetle.
 
Leaves look like Choisya ternata, I don't like the smell either.
 
Having looked at images for privet & choisya tenants, I think it must be privet.......we have a privet hedge at our UK house, but didn't know that it flowered due to being regularly trimmed! Lol

Bit early for choysia.
Easy to identify privet as they smell of cats pee, very strongly.
How big is this shrub, does it have thorns or spines and what shape are the leaves?
My first thought was Escallonia.
