Been ferociously windy here today (eastern edge of Exmoor, about 125m above sea level and nothing to break up the airflow for miles).

Fairly breezy here in the valley on the western front as well James, straight off the sea,and up at 1,700 ft ASL even more breezy. Be a good place for some wind turbines up there.

I can well believe that. I often check http://www.sat24.com to see if it is likely to be worth getting one of the telescopes out and today it showed the clouds absolutely tearing up the Severn estuary.

I wouldn't say gales, but some strong winds forecast for Cyprus today with strength up to 7 Beaufort at times.
I think I'll just wire frames today in the safety of a 40ft container, where it is nice and warm as well.

After a night of deluvian rain and screaming wind I woke up to ..............silence; the calm after the storm, everything still and dripping, rooks in the sky and blackbird chipping away in the garden. Hives still standing:)

So windy the turbines cant even take the strain
