Hi

I lost a hive and want to reuse old frames. I have tossed out old and haggard but ones with decent colour and younger comb Id like to keep. Just to be safe would like to treat with a 3 day freeze plus an acetic acid treatment.

Which way round would you do it? the scientist in me says acetic first then freeze. Just wondered what the thinking was....

Also anyone know a good lick for acetic treatment instructions?

Cheers

If you fumigate using 80% ethanoic acid (acetic in old money!) and do it properly then freezing won't be needed.
The NBU have a PDF fact sheet on hive cleaning and sterilisation and also one on fumigating comb . These can can be downloaded from their site.
