In Finland we have had bad honey years 3 years in row. Reasons have been continuous raining and low temps during yield period. Small parts of country have had normal yield. South east corner is often best because Russian continental high temps reaches that area best.

Every year is a good year, just that some are slightly better than others.

I remember speaking to some Finish beekeepers who said that most beekeepers in Finland are non-migratory.
Finman, you must be the exception? Perhaps that's why you harvest 130-150kg and the rest of the country average 40kg?

And no mention of Asian Hornets!
Spoke to a French beekeeper recently who was trying to encourage all around him to get their pollen & bees checks for 'chemicals'. He had access to all the tests- at a price.
He was adament that all their ills are due to pesticides. A lots of the descriptions he gave of 'dying' colonies sounded very similar to CBPV. Something he dismissed.

And I spoke to another “French”beekeeper who says a lot of grief is down to the rural keepers who won’t improve their vicious stock. As for Asian hornets some departments make an effort some not so it’s up to the beekeeper to be pro active. God help us if we hang around waiting for prescribed treatments
