Possible, but not what you paid for is it? No brood emerging for umpteen weeks; likely attacked by wasps if weak; no chance of any honey crop, etc etc.

It looks like you've got sealed Queen cells on the bottom bar in pic #2 which, added to the general lack of bees in most of the pics, indicates they've probably swarmed.

PS
Most of us have been a little disheartened as beekeepers this year!

i dont know,i may be worrying unduly. i have got an experienced beek coming tomorrow to have a look for me as it may be just me being a numpty.the light wasnt that good for me to see eggs and due to me being a complete beginner i am not able to see the queen.
its just completely thrwn me as i wasnt expecting to see queen cells in from a colony that i have had for only one week.

Must change my specs :) or quit speed reading (viewing), reactions too slow for that :(

If photo no 1 was taken on day 7 and there are sealed queen cells it suggests that the nuc was supplied queenless . If i have misread then accept my apologies , did you have the queen pointed out to you when supplied or was it picked up and left for you to hive it .
Something just does'nt add up here . Could you confirm the date it was supplied and the first inspection date .

Wouldnt the sealed qc on the bottom of the frame indicate that there was a queen around when it was made - ie if the queen was lost/damaged then the qcs would be formed from brood on the side of frame?

That QC looks like it was a deliberate swarm cell, and a queen laid into it.

Then swarmed.

Possibly . Either that or someone has sold a nuc with a qcell from an about to swarm hive and kept the queen for themselves . But I am a cynic .
Not all nucs are as good as the one you have .;)

To me it seems an odd place for a queen cell right on the bottom bars unless it came from a double brood set up.

i have had it confirmed tonight that there is no queen and no eggs, to say i am angry is an understatement. the sorse thing is that i bought the colony form a guy advertising on here and trusted him.
i am not in an association as my local one seems very unhelpful and ignorant.
i have tried to get a frame of eggs from the guy who i bought the colony off and he has tried to blag me basically. so i either get a frame of eggs locally or my colony dies.
no queen cells as they have been removed.
thanks to everyone who has responded with advice and help,it is appreciated.there is still some decent beekeepers out there,i have just got to meet one now

How long have you had the Nuc, if it was less than a week i would be asking for a refund and giving the Nuc back.

At the very least he should supply you with a mated queen.

no offer of a refund, told me that he didnt have a frame to give me with eggs on as he only had one colony left and that it wasnt strong enough to give me. i may be a bit new at this game but i would like to think that i aint thick or stupid.
I wont name and shame him in public as i two wrongs dont make a right.

always - I think you should because I buy from nendors on this and other forums on the basis they must be trustworthy.

It's because of the 'buyers rating' that Epay has built such a huge market share.

Hold on a moment, you bought a nuc off someone with only one other colony? Ask yourself why someone would sell you half their stock.

I'm willing to believe what you have bought is the result of a artificial swarm with the queen in the sellers hive and the rest split into 2 or more nuc boxes. Taking advantage of a new beek imho! The lack of bees could be a result of them going home if you are not far away from the seller.

May I ask how much did you pay? I suspect there is going to be some more stories like this because beeks will try and sell nucs cos their is no honey.

Grow a pair and tell us who sold you this? They deserve some scorn from the rest of us.

To give you my story, my first nuc was same condition albeit with far more bees. Emergency cells not swarm so supplier sent me a mated queen no quibbles. Thats how it should be.

man or mouse? wheres the cheese

i have been in touch with the guy who sold me the colony and he has just said to leave the hive for a week and if there is no queen cells or queen then he will suppy me with a frame. i will try and calm down first and see how it pans out before i start a riot
