A lot seems to be said regarding feeding sugar syrup to help build up but nothing regarding pollen substitute/supplement, is this something that is best left to the bees or can it be done along side the syrup?

Pollen substitute pattie is often fed in the spring to assist the build up and feeding of brood when foraging might otherwise be thin. I don't think that there is a limit, but if there is sufficient forage coming in it might be ignored. Suck it and see (I did and it tasted not bad)!

Do it alongside syrup feeding, it's a supplement.

My bees in the spring loved it, built up nice and strong and then . . . school fees, always have spare kit available for when you need it at short notice. :)
