IT"S ONLY AN EFFING STORY!!!!!
I also thought the same until 20 years ago when I decided to read the bible from cover to cover and no influence from any happy clapping people, I put the book down and went to discover was any of it true, most of the truth I did discover was scientific based stuff, I don't practice Christianity, or go to church, but I will say don't knock it until you have read it, I have no problem with evolution if someone can tell me the truth about it not what might of happened, and words like appeared, might, probably and most likely are not did happen, i know its hard to piece things together that happened millions of years ago but what i have read is only an effing story !!!!!!

So not Noah and his ark?
Or burning bushes?
Manna from heaven?
The parting of the sea?
Methusula?
Lot (Pillar of salt)?
Lazarus?
Virgin birth?
Resurrection?
Any miracle?

Thanks domino for the link red to page 10 really getting into it the I read this;

In answering the open questions that still remain unsolved, the theory of evolution will either become complete or it will be replaced by a new theory that better explains the phenomena we see in nature. That is how the scientific process works.
Ill keep reading though :hairpull:

Evolution theory cannot tell you everything. It won't tell you that humans and chimps diverged on a tuesday, or the exact location of the first oak tree. What it will tell you is the method by which these things came to be. Interestingly, every time new data comes along, it fits the theory. DNA was discovered about 100 years after Darwin, and just adds more detail about the mechanisms.

Archaeology, botany, zoology, genetics, disease, looking around you- they all point to the same answer. There's a reason for that.

Oh, and by the way, I have read the bible from cover to cover.

In my experience (having had a jehovas witness girlfriend....who turned out to be seeing other blokes and was the most immoral person I have ever met) most religious people don't go out of their way to educate themselves on science and evolution but still insist on making very silly and ignorant arguments against it. Most scientists learned both science and religion at school and then went further with science.

I understand the benefits of religion as long as it is used for good. A strong belief in kindness and respect for others is a good thing, but you don't necessarily need to be in fantasy land to achieve that.

If you doubt evolution, you simply haven't read the multitude of books and research on the subject.

JW's have their knockers...........

Has anyone? Perhaps more worrying is most people have no doubt about evolution even though they've never read a scrap of anything except the back of a cereal packet.

OK, but more worrying still is the billions of people blindly following what they were indoctrinated in as children. Better to believe in evolution in ignorance than religions with knowledge.

And especially me...when my mother died, i was bought up by my Plain Quaker Grandmother ..She being born in 1898 was a different generation with a devout quaker veiw on life

So my quaker grandmother excluded me from any grammar school biology lessons and paid for the RI teacher to give me bible studies instead

Am i now creationalist No
Do i now beleive in evolution yes
Am i still a member of the Society of Friends (quakers) No

what other effects, well i don't swear as much as other people and as i have never had any biology lesson BBKA module 5 exam is a nightmare to me

So did i read Theology at university as my grandmother wanted me to do..no. my degree is in Physics

Ba'aa, :iagree: although in the world today most of the madness is caused by very erudite religious scholars. (Of all persuasions)

last week,
Science sent a Human to the edge of space, and got him back down to earth safely
religion had a girl shot in the head for wanting an education

DrS, I saw that, it was also on facebook, I thought i'd post it again, for those that may have missed it

We did, sitting around our campfires, with our evolved bigger brains, too much time to ponder on the awesome manifestations of nature! There must be a god, and I'm going to call her Mother!, then Father....and now we have science, and nature is STILL awesome!

.
A human evolved from Adam and Eva. We should know that they evolved in Africa from apes.
Where we have facts? Painters have illustrated Adam and Eva for centuries.

It is strange that all Adams and Evas are white. They did not have clothes but the skin color...who made it? Monday mistake?
