I have noticed bees on the ground under our weeping lime looking very disoriented, walking around in erratic loops.
Added to that we have platoons of house martins who dive around the top of the tree with annoying frequency during the day. I'm convinced they're scooping up my bees as well as other flying insects.
As the blossom opens progressively towards the ground, they may be safer from this predation over the next few days.
