I have kept all sorts of bees including the so called Buckfasts... no discredit to anyone who wants to keep them,,,, but not in the middle of a breeding area where someone is attempting to keep a specific type of bee... Be it Carnolian Manx or Wompopoland bees... just a little respect for another beekeepers time and effort!

This thread or having 2 identities?? As a consumer I want to have choice. But I find Amm very elusive, ITLD has asked but I don't think he has had much luck with Cornish Amm, nobody willing to offer any for trialling.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that I couldn't rely on open mating. I'm afraid you are going to have to do the same.

As you expected, you will receive some biased replies. Some bees are very defensive, there is a youtube video on the forum that shows how bad they can be.
Those bees were certainly not Amm.

I can concur on that. It was the first open mated crosses with Amm virgin queens that allowed my local mongrel aggression to come through rather than the F2 as is the case with my Buckfast bees.
