Has anyone got a workshop manual on wives.
Mine has started making a whining noise.

I suggest no manual is complete or larger enough to cover all possible faults even if it’s just the ones you/me are aware of;(

Someone about 30 miles away is selling nucs. What does anuone think the law is on going to buy one. I am guessing its non essential?

Whining is the first stage before something's breaks usually with noisy and explosive consequences- suggest lubrication with neat alcohol might lessen the whine temporarily until a more permanent solution can be found ! Alternatively relocate yourself to somewhere that the noise can't be heard and look busy - without the cause of the problem in the vicinity the whine normally ceases...the cause of the symptoms narrows down to two alternatives - everything you do and everything you say. After 48 years I still haven't found a good manual.

My Pseudo Haynes Wife Manula states:

"wives are liable to all sorts of faults ,some serious and some trivial.
It is recommended that you attend to the trivial ones as left unfixed they will gravitate to serious faults..

Serious faults include:
Not answering wife when she asks a question
Answering said question with the wrong answer..
Forgetting wife's birthday.
Forgetting wedding anniversary.
Remembering both birthday and anniversary but choosing the wrong present.
Choosing the correct present but leaving the price on.
Giving the correct present late.
Mixing up wife's present with "some other woman" 's present
Snoring.
Drinking. Smoking.
Breathing.
Living..

There is no manual. Silly boys!
Take yourself off to your man cave and cry.

If you get stopped by Plod, you can always let him look inside the box to prove its livestock...bee-smillie

Beekeepers currently are allowed 'tend' to thier livestock and manage their colonies.
However, buying new colony's on a hobbyist level may be considered to be against the spirit of the law. Consider it is recommended that new pets are not transferred as they are not 'necessary' trips.

Even professional beekeepers in China were locked down, and countless hives have starved this spring. We are able to tend, but should not consider it a given.

On a random thought, honey suspends viruses and diseases. Do we have any evidence that it cannot be transmitted within honey, even via the smallest of risks.

I, personally have created a number of contingencies, so if I become ill (or worse), my apiary locations are documented, my bees will be cared for, and stand to have minimal possibility of spreading via honey (if possible?)

Yes ... I know when I'm beaten ... most days when I wake up !

It's sometimes handy being officially hard of hearing, especially when you have the medical report saying your deafness is particularly worse on the wavelengths that the female voice use.
The specialist said it's the first time he's been asked for a signed and witnessed copy of his report :D

I have decided against getting the nuc for now. I don't want any grief.
As for a manual for wives its easy just AGREE with EVERYTHING they say and have a good hobby that keep you out of the house when you retire.

Two of the local supermarkets have installed acrylic screens in front of the cashiers to protect them from aerosol-borne viruses. In a few months, hopefully, when this Covid-19 situation is brought under control, there should be free supply of acrylic for "see-through" crown boards.

Every cloud has a silver lining!

I would have thought that this is more likely to become the new norm.
Employers have a "duty of care" under the Health and Safety at Work Act. Now that they are aware of such a risk, they'd be negligent in their duty if they removed them.
