Hi Guys

As previously mentioned, my old van became one of the largest wasp traps in the west.

With thousands of wasps trapped at any one time throughout the summer, now they are dying off, I plan to crack the van open to see what sort of mess they have made..

wooden hive and supers - can be washed in washing soda and scorched.

Poly hives - cilit bang should do the trick

I have about made up 70 supers and 10 brood boxes stored (due to the rotten summer!) - unless it has been eaten, what is the best thing to clean the foundation?
Do wasps carry bee diseases? I would prefer not to destroy the foundation if I can help it.

Any thoughts or ideas?
Cheers
Pete

Your van will also need a good clean as it will be covered in sticky wasp excreta. Cleans up easily with any household cleaner(I use a floor cleaner in a bucket of water.
Not sure re disease but as my old mentor kept healthy bees for years and encouraged the wasps to 'clean" his supers before winter storage every year, personally I would not worry.
