I recently acquired some boxes and frames that have been sitting up a while. What is the best way to clean them, and what should I be looking for in signs of alert?

There are some useful factsheets on beebase https://secure.fera.defra.gov.uk/beebase/index.cfm?pageid=167

I think the general idea is to either scorch the inside of wooden boxes, or clean them with hot washing soda, scrape off propolis. Same with frames, if wax already removed. If they're polystyrene then scorching isn't a good idea.

Unfortunately I don't know. He is selling all his stuff and hadnt worked with his bees or equipment in over two years. I was hoping that someone could tell me what to look for as to warning signs!
