It's exactly four weeks since I took advice here and removed the floor, putting a 150mm eke below the bottom box on a hive where the bees were showing symptoms of CBPV. Tomorrow, I'll be putting them back over a floor as the problem now appears to have cleared up. On today's inspection I saw the queen and BIAS. There were obviously fewer bees than in equivalent hives, but there are plenty of foragers making the most of a sudden nectar flow brought about by the heat.
For anyone with this problem who might even be considering the destruction of the affected colony, this simple technique is definitely worth a try. Many thanks to @jenkinsbrynmair and others who have written about this.
