My friend has sent me some pictures of a type of bee she has a lot of, in and around her house. When they appear indoors they seem dopey. She wants to know if they are ok to leave or should she get someone out to remove them. Can you guys help with any info? Much appreciated :)

Probably some sort of mason bee. Anthophora plumipes (The Spring Flower Bee) is flying at this time of year - there are a lot around a wall next to my house. It tends to like old mortar it can tunnel into and re-usues the holes year after year. It is harmelss and they should stop flying in a few more weeks.

A picture of Antho' p is here: http://www.bwars.com/Anthophora_plumipes.htm

It is not easy to tell if this is it from the images you posted, as the hind leg, which is reddish in the females, is difficult to see. But if it isn't it is a close relative I think.

Thanks :) She did say the dog had got to this one before she rescued it, it couldn't fly. This was one she found indoors.
