One final question. I have limited space and need to put the new nuc next to the existing colony. Is this a problem?

Shake in lots of nurse bees then losing all the foragers makes no difference.
I keep all my hives together and shake in two frames worth of nurse bees from open brood and usually three or four from the super.
You’ll need to give them a frame of food and be prepared to feed in a week if weather prevents foraging.
