With betting acumen like yours, it's no wonder you need the honey income so much.

You are developing a really bad habit of quoting people out of context to create a stream of antagonistic posts.
It's called :troll: ing

No, not out of context. Rather, judicious.

Everyone can see every post, all the way through every thread, in chronological order.

Everyone who wants to post, should first of all read through the entire thread. That's just common sense, surely ? I always do it, it isn't difficult.

So It's not possible for me to deceive anyone, nor would I.

As for being antagonistic, well I think reasonable people would see that calling others 'thick' is antagonistic/mildly offensive whatever, so 'let he who is without sin'..., etc.

At the end of the day it's just the internet, Nigel.

You silly boys have been squabbling for 6 days and 226 posts. Cant you all
shut up and grow up.

Admin its well past the time to terminate this thread.

Seems that 'can't be bothered' is a favourite viewpoint at present.
There are some who can do as they please.

What is it with the topic of native/local/Amm that brings out the keyboard warrior in people? Even after I state that I can see both sides of the argument despite not being feasible for me to “rear local”.

Each to their own, you will just have to let that lie.

All I was doing was pointing out two things you said, I am certainly not a keyboard warrior and as I said maybe I read it differently to what was intended, two things you said were.
1. I will never get and keep local, let alone “native”, whatever that is, here.

This seemed to imply that there's no such thing as Native, I was merely pointing out that AMM are our 'native' bee and yes they are still in existence throughout the U.K

2. you then said not a chance of anyone keeping true breeding pure near me

All I said is that I would have to prove you wrong as I am in the same county (near you) and will be doing just that with I.I

As someone very interested in AMM and wanting to breed them for others to try 'near me' of course I'm going to comment, as you have said, each to their own and I have no issue with anyone keeping whatever they want but as your negative comments were aimed at AMM or Native bees not bees in general, its no wonder AMM enthusiasts get defensive.

happy beekeeping! :thanks:

They were aimed at both sides of this argument. I am not criticising you and you have a better location for your aim than I do here, as I have explained. The arguments run and run. Too many hurt feelings on the forum and every comment made even when my opening statement was that I am not taking sides, and went on to explain my choices and why, brought attacks for being anti local/native. I am categorically not. I only want calm bees that I don’t need to replace every year.

It seems that here on the forum, that all the people willing to vocalise their own successes are a little too absolutist to ever convert anyone to their “cause”.

The atmosphere is far too polarised and toxic.

... and all due to someone asking for advice on where to buy in queens from.

Steve sadly I got the OS map out and did an as the crow flies your home apiary works out at 7 miles and I am 7 3/4 miles, so not much in it LOL. Also I have a commercial beekeeper between me and those other bees. When I get round to it I may try AMM, but that will be in a few years time. For now I am mentoring a neighbour, I haven't dismissed it.

My son in law's family kept bees above Penygraig for thirty odd years, they never bought in queens and their bees were always placid enough, they had eight hives just outside the back door. Maybe his drones are not quite what his workers are? :)
I had bees at home for ten years but the shade got too much when my neighbour filled a gap with conifers, I couldn't see to inspect. They've been gone from home for a few years now.

5500+ views suggests it's a popular "soap opera" with those who don't post.
Never argue with the viewing figures not worthy

It's only words in the real world, but you'd still lose your teeth.

Oooh !

I take it that your pm to me a few weeks ago was not your true self ?

Hi,
Your reasonable responses are much appreciated. Long may it continue!
Stuart

In the real world I boxed, mostly out of the club at RAF Uxbridge. Less so at Belfast Ave., in Slough. Hayes, Middx. too. Can't remember the name of the road, but iirc it was not far from that school where George Orwell had taught back in the day. Long time ago.

Krav Maga is my thing now.

Are you a fan of the noble art, yourself ?

Cheers !

54 years for the beekeeper I'm talking about.

Since I sent that pm you seem set on picking a fight.
Funny thing is, I never met anyone who could fight who bragged about it.
But hey, it's just the internet, you'll be safe behind your keyboard.

I wish I had sold popcorn at the start of this thread,I would be rich..
