Ok, hope the pics make it through. These are from my first (and possibly last) cut out. It was hot and long work with no guarantee of success. However, after some heavy smoking the bees went up to the brood box and were fed yesterday after three days. My consolation after the work was not just to have saved an otherwise doomed colony, but I seem to have got a very gentle lot of bees. Pics are self explanatory with the last one showing bees with glands open calling in the stranglers. There are still some 100 or so bees left at the old site, but I am assuming they will disperse over time. I have assured the owner of the property they should be unable to start up again! Hope that's right as all trace was removed from the hole!
