Interesting research paper on the ability of bees to bite pests they cant sting (wax moth/varroa), injecting them with an anaesthetic to paralyse them for minutes.

Vita has now filed a patent on the potential use of 2-heptanone as a local anaesthetic (International Patent Application number: PCT/GB2012/050157).
