The obvious answer to what to take on the next visit is to keep it on site. My spare nucs, BB's and supers are all at the bees. Taking photos of all the frames is a waste of time and stressful for the bees as it increases the inspection time. When I am at the bees I am focused on the inspections. I want my "data" on the CB so I am briefed pre lifting it off. From there it is obvious if they have made progress or not and then if not why not. The data is useful for the bigger operators but personally a bit of paper and a pen did me for 80 hives and still does for my modest 10.
