Can anyone explain to me why when the BBKA convention workshops and lectures go public there are so few places available. How does one get a booking before it goes live? I am a BBKA member but find it difficult to plan a worthwhile day when most of the events are fully booked before you can view them and discuss them with my colleagues.
Once again the BBKA is failing its members.

I think the highlight of my weekend will be meeting fellow forumites for coffee Friday lunchtime and any other time if I get the call.

Ahh we shall be attending on Friday, and hopefully our paths will cross.

When planning our schedule, I fancied a look at the intro into insect photography ( I think that was the title ) I thought it would give me some tips for when I'm chasing bumbles and solitary bees as well as improve my pictures of the old honeybees, but you had to have a SLR camera and take samples of your previous photographs. So not an intro at all then. I don't suppose they'd be impressed with my camera phone pictures then :icon_204-2:

I don't understand this at all.....daft.
I have a couple of decent digiSLRs but I use my iPhone much more. The picture quality.....unless you are trying to win the wildlife photographer of the year is excellent and can be easily manipulated on the phone itself and on a computer.
A phone is much more useful for that snatch shot

Can't go this year.....again, despite trying.
Will be at the WBKA congress and maybe the Honey Show.....I fancy a trip back to my old stomping ground.

A lot of the people in my groups, who take fantastic pictures, tell me that camera phones are excellent and will do the job these days. I might upgrade to a "proper" camera one day, but for now my phone is more than adequate for what I want it to do.

Shame you aren't attending. Would have liked a natter over a brew ;)

Next year.....deffo!!!
Look forward to meeting up :)

In the end I chose the History of beekeeping session. Queens58 kindly passed on some books to me last year and one of those was on the history of the honeybee and it was really interesting, so I thought this would be interesting too. I don't think all of the sessions were listed when we were going through them as I didn't spot skep making then. I've seen posts by people who have done it in the past and they really enjoyed it. It's a long session though.

I think we planned to attend the day in full evening attire as we will be staying on for the dinner ( our tea ;) )

a friend (and fellow beek who I am helping out) is a professional cameraman/TV producer - he rates his camera phone as good as his SLR

And at fifty five quid pricey as well

You mean my normal working gear?

You can see me in that most Sundays.
You would be very welcome.
We specialise in sinners at Manchester Cathedral.

Dusty

It's alright Dusty - off to Rome next month, quick visit to the Lateran Palace and a shuffle up the Scala Sancta gives me 252 years plenary indulgence, plus under the totting up procedure - between visits to St Peter's and St David's I have the equivalent to four pilgrimages to Jerusalem - that's the way it works isn't it?

But of course, as I'm climbing the steps maybe, like Luther I'll hear a thundering voice reciting the words of Romans 1:17 just to remind me that it was there that the true faith started :D

Just spotted this link for the program in the IBRA facebook group http://www.b b k a . o r g . u k/files/library/complete_prog_lr_1452863052.pdf
