It's going to be windy out there. ;)

I for one have not opened any hatches this year.

Can not believe St Georges day has passed and it is still too cold wet and frosty to inspect the colonies here in the GreatgreygreengreaseyTamarrivervalleyallsetaroundwithsecondhomes:hairpull:

Horrible start here as well with an E wind barely letting the temps get above 10C. Wales and parts of N England seem to have the best of it at present. It's unusual so good luck to them.

Sunny 12c at 9.00 am today :) so nice here lately my bees have been sloping off next door for a jacuzzi. Hundreds of em blocking the filter

6C at 9am and raining .
8c at 11.0am and bees flying and orientation flights.

Whizzed through the Bee Yard...to secure a poly jumbo hive that OH moved and didn't restrap! All the colonies were flying. Don't know the temperature but there is a brisk wind. Keeps coming over cloudy but the rain keeps missing us....and sunny spells.
Are we supposed to have gales again? I didn't see the forecast. Thx for the warning. Poly hives, when empty, soon take flight.

We have had some good weather recently here. By all accounts everyone's bees in this area are building up really fast with reports of swarm preparations from early March onwards.

But then it never stays nice long, overcast and miserable today on my day off. Typical!

Bloody cold here but been very dry, so despite temp Bees have been able to forage. Opened one hive yesterday I have in a out apiary, arrived to see a hundred or so bees on landing board, so knew needed to open.

Astounded at the amount of Bees, absolutely crammed. With loads of BIAS, Honey and Pollen stores, and drones.

No Qc's so removed a full frame of Honey, replaced with drawn empty frame, and two Super frames full of honey ( Yes Supers ! ) had hastily had to add due to getting caught short on last inspection in autumn ) and added foundation. Great to see after in other apiary having to open two dwindling colonies and re house to Polynucs.

At this rate the summer will be over before we even get into t shirts!

We had two days of scorching hot weather last week, some other not so bad days, but most of today has been icy cold.
It is Oldham though and it can snow in June.

Its been lovely hasn't it? This colder spell is a shock to my system lol

I have left the house twice today! Both times it has hailed on me. Now that I have just come back in, the sun has come back out!

Welcome to Manchester! :hairpull:

I was tricked by the sun coming through the window. Thought I'd nip to the shop without a coat. :nono: lol

Been cold and sharp showers here today, biting wind as well. Poor Bees seem to be keeping themselves In out of the way but must have been out earlier as there's loads on the floor around the hives that must have been chilled and didn't make it back in in time.

A long cold spring makes for a very grumpy bee botherer!
