Api-Bioxal sublimation with foil

Hello,

If anyone is interested I thought I would try a dry run of sublimating Api-Bioxal in a Varrox with a pouch of silver foil in the bowl having read about the residue problem.

I used two scoops approx 2g and kept the power on for 3 minutes as per the Api-Bioxal instructions.

Once finished I inspected the pan and all that was left was a crispy black residue.

The pouch removed easily and no residue remained in the pan.

Think this will be the way forward for me.

That's if you can get oxalic dihydrate in crystal form as supliers are now starting to ask for your licence to purchase any oxalic over 10%W/W

Really? Big T's, Maisie's CWJ and all the other's weren't at the convention - or online. Nor did the builder's suppliers who sold some to me.

Might be worth noting that foil when heated up like that will give off alot of metallic vapors, if you hold it over a gas flame you will see these vapors rise off in a blue white smoke, you should do that first to get the most of them off before putting it into the hive. Instead you could use a very fine gauze like in the link below and see if that would work.
