Sell in 1lb, round 12oz hex and 8oz hex, lots of our customers are visitors and take honey back as gifts. Had some being taken to Russia and Germany last week and the 8oz were ideal for them to pack, apparently

We sell more 8oz than 12oz, but regulars are going for the 12oz. We have not sold that much yet, but right now I would say its 3:1. We have taken out the 1lb jar, because we did not sell that many in that size, instead we offer always a few 4oz, but to be honest that's not worth either, since hardly anyone buys that. I guess when they are gone they are gone...

So I guess it really depends if you have lots of regulars you are selling to.

I sell via the doorstep and one or two local country shows, I found when using 1lb jars honey was slow to sell, I moved over to 8oz hex jars priced at £3 per jar, and it flies off,

my only gripe is I want some of those little tester type jars around 1oz, so I can give away as samples, they cost more than the 8oz hex for less amount

Put your tasters in those tiny plastic pots Thorne sell. They are cheap as chips in their sale.

I think runny honey looks very good in hex jars.

I have one shop that wants 12oz only, and the other one wants 1lb (sorry not hez) and 8oz ...

I have a mind to offer ONLY 8oz jars when I'm selling direct, and its just me selling. Simplifying the "selling proposition".
But I'm doing an event on Monday where others will also be selling and the organisers, as well as setting a rather low standard price, are essentially saying 1lb jars only.

I still have a few 4oz hex jars. Very pretty. Bought mainly as presents it would seem. However, even as my most expensive honey, I'm not sure I can be bothered with the faffing around. So I'm using the remaining jars as my 'tasters'.

Priced at just under £5 the 1/2 lb or 8 oz outsell everything

I only do Heather honey in 8oz hex, the rest in 12oz.
On the market circuits I do, for "normal" honey, the 12oz have always outsold the 8oz when I've given customers a choice. So much so I don't do "normal" in 8oz jars any longer.
However, the heather sells better in 8oz due to the higher price,
Trends may be different in other areas.

I sell 8oz jars for £3.50, and always sell out. I also sell little 1.5oz jars for £1 and they always sell, even though it's more economical to buy an 8oz jar. Using smaller jars increases volume which in turn increases profit.

I sold 8oz for my spring early summer honey and now 12oz for summer (larger crop).
