For those interested in Energy Bees and Hives I will doing a workshop at HBA convention this weekend at Eastleigh ... Find out:

how good poly hives are compared to wood and the Tree nest ...
how much energy is needed to convert nectar to honey ...
What do those match sticks really do ...
What colour should you paint the hive for thermal efficiency

Needn't take long

20% more honey crop, typical.

Depends on the nectar water content and the ambient conditions.

Nothing, if you are clever and don't use any.

Does it really matter that much? No - especially for a polyhive. For good thermal
conductors, yes, for good insulators, no discernable difference. Wood is a good is a
good thermal insulator.

will you be attending?

Thanks Derek

I went to Derek's workshop yesterday on the thermodynamic properties of different styles of beehives compared to a bee nest inside a tree-trunk - absolutely fascinating and something that deserves wider discussion in my personal opinion....

not worthy
