2 at the bottom of the garden.
I have a poly hive on brood and a half. The brood is all currently in the bb, the super has capped stores and a small amount of drone brood. The hive has 2 supers on which are being drawn and filled( above the QX)
The problem I have is that the hive is bursting at the seems and also the wax in the brood frames is so blackened I can't see a thing so I have no idea if there are any eggs (although definitely larvae and capped brood present yesterday).
I want to give them more space and also get rid of the blackened comb. If I add a new BB of undrawn foundation will they draw it and move up into it? Can I do this with the supers in situ? so I can take away the bottom box and get rid of the old comb?
I guess they would store less honey, but tbh a healthy hive is more iportant than honey harvest.
The queen is unmarked and I have never managed to set eyes on her!
Any advice welcome please

what you describe is basically a bailey comb change.

I take it that it'll work then.....

You could try a shook swarm but you do need to find the queen first
