I don't recall ever having snow on my birthday as recompense for being born so close to Christmas but I do remember that year. It was wonderful. I was 12. We still had to walk to school though :(
I wonder how the bees did then? No varroa of course.

In 1986 we were caravanning on the date of the Chernobyl explosion - 26th April - and had snow, hail and hard frosts. Kielder Forest in Northumberland.

Some events stick in your mind

Quite so , schools remained open (no school runs) pupils attended local schools ,the grammar schools were within walking.\ short bus ride distance! people worked close to home , 1.8 miles in my case .
Becoming mobile , commuting , has created a dependant resource gobbling society!

Times might be turning as an Amazon warehouse opened not so long ago in Swansea and they would only recruit employees within a 3 mile catchment area

I have lots of weather data for my area back to the 1950s. The trend over the last 50 years has been that March is getting warmer although as you can see from the attached graph there are blips along the way. We are currently heading for a March temperature as low as in 1969. Last year March was insanely warm and was a blip the other way.

I think in general the phenolgy & weather data show that over the last few decades Spring has been coming earlier. We just happen to be in an anomaly right now.

Surely in a week or two we'll be basking in glorious 12-15 degrees?!

This would have been due to planning permission constraints!

Does that mean you have data for April showing gloriously warm weather, following on from the insanely cold months of March?
