There is some plum blossom out on the local path. Hopefully warm enough for the bees to pollinate. Hopefully will get a Harvest of plums to make jam. Some years there aren't many plums because the weather was too cold while the trees were in blossom

Bee’s enjoying spring flowers today. In the north west blooming time is quite late so our snowdrops and crocuses have only recently made an appearance. Thankfully we have had a few days of sun and warmer temperatures which has allowed the bee’s to get to work on them 😃IMG_8330.jpegIMG_8314.jpegIMG_8309.jpegIMG_8317.jpeg

Spring's late here. I looked back at some photos I took last year. On the 19th February a tree by some of my hives was just coming into blossom and the bees were on it. This year it took till the 6th March to reach the same state.

Late, or perhaps it was early last year?

IMG_1417.jpegBees piling in yellow pollen today. 16 degrees and sunny. I’ve only found one flowering dandelion but maybe there are more about if that’s where they’re getting the pollen

Yes Willow would fit with what is in my local, more yellow today here as well, I notice the girls are getting stronger in that when landing with full loads they are heading straight into the hive rather than having a pause on the landing board.

Yes, the Willow was in flower Feb 17th last year, three weeks later this year and Blackthorn, which normally flowers before the Willow is only just beginning to colour up.
The bees were very busy today, lots of Willow and still plenty of Gorse piling in.

I rarely see willow open on Portland before April, this year it may just open before the end of this month. The result of constant wind chill I imagine as a couple of miles inland it'll be starting to open now.
