Fields of ****, plus Turnip **** and similar along ditches, and Elderflower now blooming. All very early. Ground still very dry and cracked despite some rain yesterday.

Apple trees are doing very well, despite the wind. This one is in my apiary.

Been out for a dog walk this morning. What is this shizzle I see before me? 1ft tall OSR ?? At least it is alive, and flowering, I guess.

What leaves a little pale yellow dot on the back of honey bees at this time of year?

Welsh Poppies everywhere in my garden, such a wonderful yellow!
New one on me, my Rowan is in flower and it is covered in bees both Bumbles and Honey Bess who were collecting pollen and nectar. I've never seen them on Rowan before.

Horse chestnut is flowering here. Saw the deep red pollen in the hive today during an inspection.

Thats made me smile. Up here the Hawthorn is still only thinking about blooming, horse chestnut will be a while yet; we do have an abundance of gorse though.
Pretty similar here, some Hawthorn has only been in leaf for a few of weeks.

Oil seed **** maybe?

I thought I saw someone post that a few days ago but I think OSR covers the front of the head, not the back of the thorax.

The best I can find is toadflax but the patches of it in the garden are not flowering yet.

White Dead Nettle is in flower, and it has its anthers at the top of the flower so the pollinating insect brushes its head and thorax against them as it reaches for the nectary. Not sure if honey bees visit though, as only ever seen bumblebees on them.

Yes, I mean Linaria vulgaris I don't have a picture of the bee. It was the only one I noticed walking across a frame when doing a full inspection. So, I assume it wasn't something the bees were really going after.

We do have white dead nettle about, plus that Variegated yellow archangel feral thug.

It does flower conveniently from around April til June. I doesn't like being mowed down though, a couple of goes at it usually kills it off, it just spreads rather quickly.

Not flowering yet thank heavens but lots showing.
